Fridge useful tips

 Watercress keeps longer if wash it and keep it in a bowl in the fridge.

Lemons will keep for as long as a month in the fridge if you store them in a jar of cold water.

Mushrooms will keep longer in the fridge if you drape a piece of damp kitchen towel over the bowl.

Revive soggy lettuce by putting it into a bowl of cold water with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice added.

Wash a charcoal briquette and keep it in the fridge to remove smells. Replace it with a new one every couple of months.

A paste made from water and baking soda wiped around the inside of the fridge will keep it smelling fresh.

Always keep food in the fridge covered or wrapped and never store open cans of food in the fridge, decant it into small bowls and cover.

Store uncooked meat, fish and poultry on the lowest shelf in the fridge, to avoid contamination of cooked or fresh food by dripping juices.
