Textile pests

Moths and carpet beetles, and their larvae, can be lethal. They love munching textiles, particularly expensive ones such as silk, fur and cashemere.
Take action to prevent a trail of destruction being left in your wardrobe:
  • Always wash clothes first. Textile pests are attracted by sweat and bodily fluids, food remnants and other perfumed substances, so don't give them the green light by returning worn clothes to the cupboard.
  • Vacuum regularly. They also like dust and hair, so pay attention to areas such as along skirting boards, underneath furniture and the insides of wardrobes and drawers.
  • Use mothballs or more natural pest repellents, such as lavender and cedar bags, in areas where clothing is kept.
