Maintenance tips for a clean and safe bathroom:
- Toothbrush mugs are a haven for all sorts of nasty bacteria. Clean them thoroughly at least once a week.
- Once a month, pour a kettle of boiling water over a cup of washing soda crystals scattered around each plughole. This will help clear grease and soap scum, banish odours and leave drains running freely.
- Replace cleaning clothes regularly, or clean and soak in a disinfectant or bleach solution at least once a week. Keep cloths used for the toilet in a separate place.
- Buff mirrors with a little white vinegar and paper towels for a sparkling, smear-free finish.
- After using the bathroom, leave a window open or run extractor fan to ventilate it and discourage mould from developing.
- If the bath is very dirty, fill it with warm water and a couple of scoops of biological washing powder, and leave to soak overnight.
